Required Qualifications:

  1. Completion of Defrilex’s online medical terminology assessment with a passing score.
  2. Third-party oral test for medical interpretation with a language rating of “technical proficiency” (3 or higher on the nationally recognized ILR scale).
  3. Successful completion of a mock oral interpretation session, meeting 28 quality standards, and achieving a passing score
  4. Full background check and security screening.
  5. Signed commitment to confidentiality, adherence to ethics, and HIPAA compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. 1-3+ years of professional interpreting experience in the relevant field (e.g., medical, legal, business, etc.).
  2. Certification or accreditation in interpreting from a recognized institution or professional organization (e.g., ATA, RID, CCHI, NBCMI, etc.).
  3. Proficiency in multiple languages, with a focus on high-demand languages.
  4. In-depth knowledge of industry-specific terminology and protocols.
  5. Familiarity with relevant interpreting tools and technologies (e.g., interpreting software, video remote interpreting platforms, etc.).
  6. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in all working languages.
  7. Strong cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and customs.
  8. Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced and demanding environments.
  9. Flexibility and adaptability to different interpreting settings (e.g., conferences, legal proceedings, medical consultations, etc.).
  10. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with industry trends and best practices.
